Modern Slavery Statement
Waterloo Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Waterloo Man and Van in respect of our operations and supply chains. It sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in connection with our business, with a particular focus on labour practices in logistics, removals, storage, and associated services.
Waterloo Man and Van recognises that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have no place in our business or our supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to all people who work for or with us, including employees, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors, and all suppliers involved in providing goods or services to Waterloo Man and Van.
Our management team is responsible for promoting a culture of integrity and ethical conduct. We expect every person associated with our business to act in a manner that supports human rights, fair working conditions, and lawful employment practices.
Any form of modern slavery identified within our operations or supply chains will be addressed immediately and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships, as well as reporting to the appropriate authorities where required.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards
Our supply chains primarily include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, storage facilities, and recruitment agencies. We are committed to working only with organisations that share our commitment to preventing modern slavery.
We seek to ensure that our commercial agreements incorporate appropriate standards on labour practices. We expect suppliers to comply with all relevant employment, health and safety, and human rights legislation, and to treat all workers with dignity and respect.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Waterloo Man and Van undertakes proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers. This may include requesting information on their own modern slavery policies, reviewing publicly available information, and assessing any known risks associated with their sector or geographic location.
Where appropriate, we carry out supplier audits or request evidence of third-party audits and certifications. Our aim is to verify that suitable controls are in place to prevent forced labour, child labour, and other forms of exploitation. If concerns arise, we will seek clarification, request corrective action, or, where necessary, end the relationship.
We review higher-risk relationships more closely, for example where low-skilled or temporary labour is involved, or where suppliers operate in sectors or regions known to be vulnerable to labour exploitation.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Waterloo Man and Van encourages employees, contractors, suppliers, and any other stakeholders to report concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to any organisation in our supply chains.
Reports can be made through our internal reporting routes to management or via external channels such as relevant authorities or independent advice organisations. We will treat all reports sensitively and, where possible, confidentially.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. All allegations will be assessed promptly, investigated where appropriate, and addressed through suitable remedial and disciplinary action.
Training and Awareness
We seek to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among staff, especially those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. This may include briefings, guidance materials, and updates as our approach develops.
Employees are reminded of their responsibility to remain alert to potential indicators of exploitation, such as signs of coercion, restricted freedom of movement, or unusual control over personal documents or finances.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery approach sits with senior management, who review risks, incidents, and supplier performance. We are committed to continuous improvement and to strengthening our procedures where necessary.
This Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and reflective of our activities and risk profile. The review considers any incidents reported, changes in legislation, emerging best practice, and feedback from employees and suppliers.
Following each annual review, Waterloo Man and Van will update this Statement and, where needed, refine our policies, supplier requirements, and training to further reduce the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Waterloo Man and Van and represents our ongoing commitment to responsible and ethical business conduct.
